Debbie Rowe May Get Custody of Jackson Children

Legendary performer Michael Jackson died yesterday of apparent cardiac arrest, leaving behind three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, and Prince Michael Jackson II. The mother of the first two children, Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe, may gain custody of the children in the wake of their father's death.

Rowe and Jackson married in 1997, shortly after his divorce from Lisa Marie Presley. Jackson met Rowe, a dermatologist's nurse, in the mid-1980s when he was being treated for vitiligo, a rare skin disease that caused his skin to whiten in patches. The couple divorced in 1999; Rowe gave full custody rights of the children to Jackson.

TMZ reports that under California law, Rowe is likely the person who will get custody of the children, although she is not the biological mother of Jackson's third child, who was born via anonymous surrogate. Rowe will only be denied custody if the Californian courts rule it 'detrimental for the children.'
