The former Bad Boy rapper (born Jamal Barrow) was scheduled to be released from prison Tuesday (October 6) after serving more than nine years of a 10-year sentence in connection with the 2001 Club New York shooting involving Diddy and Jennifer Lopez.

But his release is now under review, as representatives for the rapper revealed to MTV News that the Brooklyn MC is being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at an unspecified facility in Western New York State. Officials are determining whether or not to deport the rapper, who was born in Belize, a rep explained.

"Shyne is currently in federal custody while his future immigration status is determined," the rep said in a message to MTV News. Shyne attorney Oscar Michelen emphasized to MTV News on Tuesday afternoon that Shyne has not been released, contrary to media reports.

Braylon Edwards Gets Traded to NY Jets

The Browns have traded receiver Braylon Edwards to the Jets for a package of players.
Cleveland will receive WR Chansi Stuckey, LB Jason Trusnik and undisclosed draft picks from New York.
The trade comes just two days after a Cleveland man accused Edwards of assault outside a nightclub in the city. The man is a friend of Cavs star LeBron James, who said Edwards' alleged assault was motivated by "jealousy."

In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, Lindsay Lohan's dad, Michael Lohan, is speaking out about his daughter's downward spiral; one he blames on prescription drugs.

"I'm going to get her off the prescription drugs that she's on," Lohan told us in a candid interview. "I hate it when people talk about illegal drug abuse... because it's not just drinking and illegal drugs that kill you. Prescription drugs can destroy and kill a person and are sometimes harder to stop. Look at Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson."


Lohan asked us not to reveal what specific medications he believes his daughter is abusing, but says they've taken over her life.

"You know why Lindsay's not acting in feature films right now? Because she can't," he said. "Because the girl with all the talent is hidden and buried deep inside this fungus that's grown because of the prescription drugs. She can't be herself. When you hug her she's like, vacant inside. When she kisses or holds me I get chills, and not in a good way-in a bad way."

Lohan had a chance to spend some quality time with his oldest daughter following the break-in at her Hollywood Hills home. He says he was shocked by how much she'd changed.

"She's a different person. I was out there for a week when she was living at the Sunset Marquis Hotel and I would sit there and cry. It was horrible. This was not the kid I raised," Lohan told RadarOnline.com.

Lohan says he's speaking out now because he's worried about Lindsay's health and fears she's being taken advantage of by those he calls "enablers."

"I don't care what anyone says about Lindsay. The Lindsay Lohan I lived with when I was married was a focused, intelligent, gifted girl that needed no prescription medication, no assistance from a therapist. Whoever the people are that came into her life and convinced her otherwise should be thrown in jail, because they're the same type of people who are responsible for the deaths of Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson and DJ AM," Lohan said. "Everything was fine in our family until Dina and I got divorced. And that's when all the kids' lives started to unravel... including Lindsay's."

"NEW YORK (CBS) New York Rapper Shyne was released from prison today after serving more than eight years for his role in a 1999 New York night club shooting involving mentor Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and actress Jennifer Lopez.

A Clinton Correctional Facility staffer confirmed his release.

Shyne, whose real name is Jamal Barrow, was charged in March 2001, with attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment.

According to MTV, "The rapper admitted to firing a gun at Club New York, but maintained that he was acting in self-defense and that another gunman's bullets injured the two victims. He faced up to 25 years in prison."

He was sentenced to only 10, which he began on June 1, 2001.

"It's a blessing that he's coming home," Combs said in a recent radio interview on Hot 97 in New York. "I spoke to him like a couple of weeks ago and he sounded like he was in good spirits."

While serving time, the rapper released two albums and reportedly converted to Judiasm. He legally changed his name Moses Michael Leviy.

Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man was "Too High" to Pay Taxes

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Grammy-winning rapper Method Man has been arrested in New York City on felony charges for failing to pay his taxes.

Method Man, whose real name is Clifford Smith, blamed his tax issues on his past "chronic marijuana use" according the New York Post.

"Because I got high, I forgot to pay. It was stupid," the rapper told Post reporters in March.

The 38-year-old rapper turned himself in Monday morning. Authorities say he failed to pay nearly $33,000 in taxes through 2004 and 2007.

He is being charged with repeated failure to file a return and failure to pay taxes.

Smith could face up to four years in prison.

He won a Grammy in 1995 for best rap performance by a group or duo with Mary J. Blige for "I'll Be There For You/You're All That I Need." He is also a member of the group Wu-Tang Clan.

Smith is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Staten Island Criminal Court.

"Amid much speculation, Christina Milian now confirms that she is going to have a baby.

“My husband and I are expecting,” she told PEOPLE Friday night. “We’re about four and a half months along, about 19 weeks.”

With a noticeable bump under her flowing dress, Christina, 28, said she knows the sex of the child but wants to keep it secret.

“We’re really excited,” she said.

With her husband, singer/songwriter and producer The Dream, absent at MGM Grand’s Tabù lounge, Christina sipped water and danced on her VIP table with a group of girlfriends.

The confirmation of the pregnancy comes less than a month after she was married in Vegas. The wedding, though, wasn’t nearly as spontaneous as some fans suspected.

“Honestly, it was kind of planned,” she said. “We were engaged for many months.” And soon to be parents — the baby is due in late February/early March."

"Tionne Watkins, aka T-Boz from TLC, revealed to People magazine in its latest issue that she secretly battled a brain tumor for 3 years. Back in 2006, the singer underwent a 7-hour surgery to rid her of the tumor, which was the size of a grapefruit and had left her blind and deaf for months. The doctor peeled it from the brain stem by making a cut behind her ear.

A quote from the magazine reads, “People are floored when I say I have a brain tumor. I won’t let you feel sorry for me. We’ll make jokes, get through it, and the bad stuff will just be a memory.”

She also explained why she decided to appear and participate on this years “Celebrity Apprentice” regardless of her condition, saying “I didn’t want pity - I was there to help sick children. I’m still here. It will take way more to stop me.”

She says she is now happy and healthy. She also did an interview with CBS News on the subject, but the air date is still unknown."

Atlanta homicide detectives have a "person of interest" they are interviewing in the death of the former fiancé of the newest member of the reality television show The Real Housewives of Atlanta.


Ashley "A.J." Jewell, who was engaged to Kandi Burruss until last August, died of massive head injuries he suffered in a "one-on-one" fight in the parking lot of an Atlanta strip bar, the Body Tap Club in the 1200 block of Marietta Boulevard.

Atlanta police spokesman Officer James Polite said detectives were still "trying to figure out [what happened]. We had a pretty good number of witnesses that are being cooperative."
But the cause of the fight was still not known Saturday.
Polite said Jewell worked at the club but he did not know in what capacity. Burruss said in an interview with the entertainment Web site Essence.com last month that Jewell had bought an interest in an Atlanta club but she did not identify the business.
Burruss, who has a daughter, was flooded with condolences Saturday on her social networking pages on Twitter.com and MySpace.com.
Kandi Burruss thanked friends for their condolences and asked for prayers for Jewell's six children.
She also asked to be left alone. "im just in one of those moods where i dont wanna talk, i dont wanna b held & told its gonna b ok. i just wanna cry myself 2 sleep, alone," she wrote on a Twitter.com post.
She also posted that she had to get some rest before her uncle's funeral on Saturday.
Burruss joined the program that features metro Atlanta "housewives" who focus on status, clothing and who's arguing and why.
Jewell, as Burruss' fiancé, appeared occasionally the show. In some episodes Burruss, 33, argued with her mother over her relationship with Jewell.
Burruss is an award-winning singer-songwriter and a solo performer. She was a member of the now-disbanded R&B group Xscape.
According to an interview last month with the entertainment Web site Essence.com, Burruss and Jewell had taken a "hiatus" from their relationship but remained friends while they worked on their issues.
